Sault Ste. Marie, MI – 7/14/2025 – Central Savings Bank is proud to announce a new partnership with the Sault Tribe Capital Fund to provide enhanced access to business financing for Tribal entrepreneurs and businesses that support the Sault Tribe community. This collaboration aligns with the broader State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) Tribal Loan Participation Program, which aims to strengthen small business growth and economic development in underserved areas.

Through this partnership, eligible businesses located within the Sault Tribe’s 7-county service area-and either owned by Sault Tribe members or providing clear economic benefits to the Tribe—can access flexible financing options. The program supports many different needs, including loans for equipment, construction, and working capital, with a minimum loan amount of $10,000.

“This initiative represents a meaningful step forward in empowering Native-owned businesses and those committed to supporting the Tribe,” said James Parker, Vice President. “At Central Savings Bank, we believe in the power of partnership and are proud to be part of a program that uplifts local entrepreneurs and contributes to long-term economic vitality.”

Robert Sawruk, Director of Business Development for Sault Tribe Thrive, added: “We are thrilled to have another lending partner sign up for the program, especially a lender located in the Eastern Upper Peninsula where the majority of our members reside.” He also added “We appreciate Central Savings Bank being the first lender in the Eastern Upper Peninsula to sign up for the program. This should be a great benefit to both our tribal members and the community as a whole.”

With fewer than 750 employees as the qualifying size standard, this program opens doors for a wide range of small businesses seeking to grow, build, or expand their services.

Now available, the loan program offers more than just capital—it offers community connection, economic resilience, and an opportunity to turn visions into realities.
