Business Support Coordinator

 

Position Summary:

The Business Support Coordinator, under the direction of the Director of Business Development, will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Sault Tribe Thrive Website, maintaining an online and print directory of Sault Tribe Businesses, assisting Sault Tribe Businesses with applications and resource attainment, and provide a readily available current list of resources and opportunities. The position provides administrative support to the Director of Business Development and assists in consulting, training, and research to assist small businesses to launch, growing, innovating, and transitioning by providing entrepreneurs and business owners with convenient access to Sault Tribe Thrive Services.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Develops and maintains databases; prepares and reviews reports, memos, letters, and other documents using word processing, spreadsheet, and database or presentation software.
  • Manages client intake and triage process used to determine appropriate services.
  • Provides direct business consulting to Sault Tribe start-ups and emerging companies.
  • Oversees, facilitates, and conducts training programs for the Sault Tribe 7-county service area.
  • Establish, maintain, and strengthen relationships with Sault Tribe EDC stakeholders and partners.
  • Support the Business Consultant’s efforts in building client portfolios and serving those clients efficiently and effectively.
  • Works to promote the services and successes of Sault Tribe.
  • Maintains client records in compliance with Sault Tribe Thrive.
  • Works with the Director of Business Development to maintain MBDA grant and budget.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of SBA loan products, other small business financing options, and available business support resources, including public, private, and nonprofit programs.
  • Support Sault Tribe Thrive initiatives through the development of expertise, establishing contacts, and contributing to programs that support the various business communites.
  • Plans and prepares, and coordinates meetings: schedules, attends, takes, and distributes meeting minutes.
  • Responsible for the daily operations of the Sault Tribe Thrive Office.

 

Other Responsibilities:

  • Disseminates internal and external correspondence and information for the Sault Tribe Thrive office.

Physical Requirements:

Position light with lifting a maximum of 20 pounds and with frequent lifting/carrying of up to 10 pounds. Physical factors include constant use of hearing, and smell; frequent standing, walking, and sitting, use of near/midrange/far vision, depth perception, color/field of vision, typing; occasional carrying/lifting and bending. Working conditions include occasional exposure to noise and vibration. Potential hazards include constant computer use.

 

Physical Requirements:

Education: Associate’s Degree in Business or related field or three years of demonstrated ability in relevant work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
Experience: Two years of experience working in business and administrative support required in addition to above stated education requirements.
Certification/License: Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Must comply with annual driver’s license review and insurability standards with the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Will be required to complete and pass pre-employment drug testing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must have working knowledge of project management and training material development. Must have a working knowledge of practices and formats for development and strategic planning, project management, financial and human resources management, and effective training methods. Working knowledge and proficiency in project management. Must have working knowledge and proficiency in the use of word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Must be able to independently plan, organize, schedule, coordinate, and make decisions and judgments relating to assigned projects and other responsibilities. Must be able to apply sound analytical decision-making processes and approaches and develop alternative solutions to problems. Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, in a diverse range of audiences and settings. Must be able to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative. Must maintain confidentiality. Native American preferred.
